The rules for using JoyBook. In short: JoyBook connects you with businesses but doesn’t run them; a request is only a booking once the business confirms; you pay the business directly; and reviews must be honest.
1. These terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Maxiconn Technologies (Philippines), which runs JoyBook. By creating an account or using JoyBook, you accept them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use JoyBook.
JoyBook helps you find stays and services in the Philippines and send booking requests to the businesses that offer them. It is free for customers.
We don’t provide the stays or services ourselves, and we are not a party to your booking. Your booking is an agreement between you and the business. The business is responsible for what it offers: its prices, availability, rooms and services, permits, safety, and its own cancellation, deposit and refund rules.
Payments go directly to the business, by the methods it lists (such as GCash, bank transfer, PayPal or cash). JoyBook doesn’t receive, hold or refund your payment.
3. Your account
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding agreement.
Give accurate details, and keep them up to date. You need a confirmed email address to book.
Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens in your account; tell us at once if someone else may be using it.
One person, one account. Don’t create accounts for others or pretend to be someone else.
You can delete your account at any time in Profile.
4. Booking requests
A request is not a booking. You are only booked once the business confirms it. Until then the place or time isn’t held for you.
The business may accept, decline or ask for payment first. Read its terms on the place page and in its messages before you pay.
Only request what you intend to use, and cancel in the app if your plans change.
If you book for someone else, such as a family member, you confirm they agree, and you remain responsible for the booking.
Prices and details on JoyBook come from the businesses. We try to keep them right but can’t guarantee them; the business’s confirmation is what counts.
5. Paying a business safely
Pay only the account shown in the app for that booking. If you’re asked to pay a different account, don’t, and tell us.
Upload only real proof of a payment you made.
Refunds, deposits and disputes about a payment are between you and the business. We can help by passing on messages and looking at what happened on JoyBook, but we can’t force a refund.
A Verified by JoyBook badge means we made the specific checks listed on that business’s page. It is not a guarantee of the business’s quality, safety or conduct.
6. Reviews, messages and photos
You are responsible for what you post. Reviews must be about a real visit, honest, and your own. Don’t post anything that:
is false, misleading, defamatory, hateful, threatening, obscene or harassing;
shares someone else’s personal data without their permission;
infringes someone else’s copyright, trademark or other rights;
is advertising, spam, or a review offered in exchange for payment, a discount or a threat.
You keep ownership of what you post. You give Maxiconn Technologies a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, display and share it on JoyBook (for example, showing your review on the business’s page), for as long as it stays on JoyBook. We may remove content that breaks these terms or the law. If you believe a review is fake or unlawful, write to hello@joybookapp.com.
7. Things you must not do
Use JoyBook for anything illegal, fraudulent or harmful to others.
Make fake bookings, or use bookings or chat to harass a business or its staff.
Try to get into accounts, data or systems that aren’t yours, or test, overload or disrupt JoyBook.
Copy the listings in bulk, scrape the site or use bots (search engines indexing public pages are fine).
Get around limits, bot checks or bans.
8. Listings from public sources
Some places are listed from public information before the owner joins, and are marked as not yet on JoyBook. Their details may be out of date and you can’t book them through us. Owners can claim, correct or ask to remove them.
9. Our content
The JoyBook name, logo, design and software belong to Maxiconn Technologies or its licensors. You may use JoyBook for your own personal bookings; you may not copy, sell or reuse it otherwise without our written permission. Map and place data from third parties is used under their licences, credited at the bottom of each page.
10. Emails and notifications
We send emails about your account and bookings (for example confirmations and password resets); these are part of the service. Push notifications and reminders are only sent if you turn them on, and you can turn them off at any time.
11. Our responsibility
We work to keep JoyBook available and accurate, but we provide it “as is”: it may sometimes be unavailable, slow or contain errors.
Because we are not a party to your booking, we are not responsible for what a business does or fails to do, including the stay or service itself, cancellations, refunds, injuries, loss or damage at the business, or payments you make to it.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses (such as lost profits or missed trips), and our total liability to you for any claim about JoyBook is limited to PHP 5,000. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Act of the Philippines (Republic Act No. 7394), the Internet Transactions Act of 2023 (Republic Act No. 11967), the Data Privacy Act, or any other law that can’t be waived, or our liability for fraud, gross negligence or wilful misconduct.
12. Suspending or closing accounts
We may suspend or close an account, or remove content, if it breaks these terms, puts others at risk, or if the law requires it. Where we reasonably can, we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond. You can stop using JoyBook and delete your account at any time.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as JoyBook changes, and will change the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app or by email at least 15 days before it applies. If you keep using JoyBook after that, the new terms apply; if you don’t agree, you can delete your account.
14. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Philippines. If you have a complaint, write to us first at hello@joybookapp.com and we will try to resolve it within 30 days. If we can’t, you may bring it before the Department of Trade and Industry, the National Privacy Commission (for data matters) or the proper courts of the Philippines.
