Business Terms
Last updated 29 October 2026
For businesses listing on JoyBook. In short: keep your listing honest and current, honour bookings you confirm, protect your guests’ data, and take payments only into your own accounts. JoyBook takes no commission.
1. These terms
These terms apply to anyone who lists a business on JoyBook or uses the owner console at business.joybookapp.com (“you”, the business). They are an agreement between the business and Maxiconn Technologies (Philippines), which runs JoyBook. The Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy also apply; where they differ, these terms win for businesses.
If you accept these terms for a business, you confirm you are allowed to act for it.
2. Your listing
- Keep your listing accurate and current: name, address, photos, rooms or services, prices, availability, house rules, and your cancellation, deposit and refund policy.
- Only publish photos and text you own or are allowed to use, that show your actual place.
- Hold the registrations, permits and accreditations your business needs (for example DTI or SEC registration, a mayor’s permit, and DOT accreditation where required), and follow the laws that apply to you, including consumer protection, tax and health and safety rules.
- You give Maxiconn Technologies a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display, resize and share your listing content on JoyBook, on the business pages we host for you, and in JoyBook’s own promotion of your listing, for as long as you list with us.
3. Claiming a pre-listed place
Some places are listed from public information before the owner joins. Only claim a place you own or are authorised to manage. We check claims, and we may reverse a claim and close the account if it turns out to be false.
4. Bookings and guests
- Answer booking requests and messages promptly. A request only becomes a booking when you confirm it.
- Honour bookings you confirm, at the price and terms you confirmed.
- Payments go directly from guests to you. Show only payment accounts in the business’s or owner’s name, and handle refunds as your own published policy and the law require. JoyBook doesn’t collect, hold or refund guests’ payments, and takes no commission.
- Treat guests fairly and without discrimination.
5. Guests' personal data
When guests book or message you, you receive their personal data: names, contact details, booking details, messages and payment proofs. For that data, your business is a personal information controller under the Data Privacy Act. You must:
- use it only to handle the booking, the stay or service, and related messages;
- not send guests marketing unless they agreed to it, and not sell or share their data;
- keep it secure, limit it to staff who need it, and keep it no longer than necessary;
- help guests exercise their rights over the data you hold.
For booking, chat and review pages we host for your business, and the chat assistant if you use it, we process data on your behalf, following your settings and the Data Privacy Act.
6. Reviews
Guests may review your business after a visit. Don’t offer anything in exchange for reviews, write reviews of your own business or a competitor’s, or pressure guests to change a review. If you believe a review is fake or unlawful, write to hello@joybookapp.com and we will look at it. You can reply to reviews where the console allows it.
7. The chat assistant
If you turn on JoyBook’s chat assistant, it drafts answers to guests from the information in your listing, using an AI service provider. AI answers can be wrong. Keep your listing details accurate, check conversations, and answer when a guest asks for a person. You are responsible for what the assistant tells guests on your behalf.
8. Verification
To show Verified by JoyBook, we may ask for documents (such as your registration, a business permit and an owner’s ID) and check that your payment account is in the business’s or owner’s name with a small test transfer. Give only genuine documents. A badge shows the checks we made; we may remove it if details change or turn out to be false.
9. Plans and billing
- JoyBook has a free plan and paid plans. Each plan’s price, limits (such as bookings per month) and features are shown in the console before you subscribe.
- Paid plans renew automatically each billing period until cancelled, and are charged through Stripe or PayPal under their terms.
- You can cancel at any time in the console. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you paid for and then moves to the free plan. Payments for a period already started are not refunded, except where the law requires it.
- We will give at least 30 days’ notice by email before a price change applies to you.
- If a payment fails, we may move the business to the free plan until it is settled.
10. Things you must not do
- List a place you don’t run, or a fake or misleading offer.
- Ask guests to pay accounts not in the business’s or owner’s name, or to pay outside the terms you published.
- Use guests’ contact details to spam them, or move bookings off JoyBook to avoid its rules.
- Interfere with JoyBook, other businesses’ listings, or reviews.
11. Suspension and ending
You can close your listing at any time. We may hide a listing, remove a badge, or suspend or close an account if it breaks these terms, if guests report fraud or serious problems, or if the law requires it. Where we reasonably can, we will tell you why first and give you a chance to respond. Confirmed bookings you have already accepted remain your responsibility.
12. Responsibility
You are responsible for your business, your listing, the stays and services you provide, and your dealings with guests. You agree to cover Maxiconn Technologies’s reasonable losses and costs if a claim is made against us because of your listing, your services, or your breach of these terms or the law.
We provide JoyBook “as is” and don’t promise a number of bookings. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses or lost profits, and our total liability to a business for any claim is limited to the fees it paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that can’t be limited by law.
13. Changes, law and contact
We will give at least 15 days’ notice by email of significant changes to these terms. They are governed by the laws of the Philippines; disputes go first to hello@joybookapp.com, and if not resolved within 30 days, to the proper courts of the Philippines. Maxiconn Technologies, Philippines.
